FBA Wizard team member Gary goes into the basics of reading a Keepa graph and also how to understand the fundamentals of making buying decisions based on price history and sales rank data.

Today, I want to go into more detail of the tool that any resell account can’t live without, it’s called the Keepa Graph. And it gives us price history, sales rank history for all products sold on Amazon. Here’s the graph below, give you a brief one down of some of its features. The green line is sales rank. The yellow part is Amazon’s sale price, the blue is the market place new and some of the gaps in between here when Amazon is not in stock on an item. Yeah, so this has got to the right, sales rank. And it got dates on the bottom and the side here, it’s got price history. And let’s look at the relationship between price and sales rank history to help this make smarter buying decisions. The higher the price, the lower the sales rank.
So we see, at the beginning of the chart, Amazon’s £39.99 price, and sales rank to 40,000. Lower price, £19.99 and higher sales rank is up to 600. Some probably have good sales rank even if it has inflated prices, due to market demand. We can see that here. I’ll just expand this part here. The spaces are when Amazon’s out of stock, so we can see here, that Amazon’s price, £14.99 and it’s over £32 on the market place which is over doubled.
And if we actually look at the sales rank, there, it’s not overly affected that much. It’s more down to market demand. And, on the effects it has on it. Another little piece here, that’s quite useful, is that stats part at the bottom here. The bit where it stood, the average, if you look at the average sales rank, there we show 10,400, and if you look at our FBA Wizard, up here is sharing, 11,113. So between the two, it’s pretty much the same but it’s not always the case. It is worth checking. Where basically making predictions based on past performance. And that is the purpose of using the Keepa Graph, to help us make better buying decisions.
